There were hundreds of microelectronics projects at the launch stage at the beginning of 2022, and the growth in equipment production in the segment in January-February was more than 30%. This was reported by the executive director of the Association of Electronics Developers and Manufacturers (ARPE) Ivan Pokrovsky.
According to him, an ecosystem of dozens of companies has formed around each developer of Russian microprocessors. Thus, a tenfold increase in the production of devices was guaranteed in 2022, and over the next two years the industry could soar 100 times, the head of ARPE believes. Such a scenario would lead to the fact that
Russian microprocessor could start to compete in price with foreign analogues
Due to the introduction of the sanctions regime, the industry lost stability and was forced to radically restructure, but in the end it gained a lot.
Ivan Pokrovsky, ARPE:
– As a result of the changes, supply content writing service channels are now under the control of Russian companies, while they were completely in the hands of foreign vendors, financed and managed from abroad. This important point is still underestimated by market players.
growth of production in the microelectronics industry of the Russian Federation in 2022 at the level of 5-10%
This will happen, among other things, due to the increase in the contract development market, which has grown by 70% this year to 2.7 billion rubles, stated Ivan Larionov, CEO of the Third Pin company. At the same time, the service will become more expensive in 2023 only because the industry has faced an outflow of personnel: 11% of employees have left the country, the expert specified.
Nikolay Aleksandrov, Head of Contract Development at Dannie, spoke about the consequences of large-scale relocation. Companies with international offices had to create new legal entities and organize the work process of distributed teams.
Nikolay Alexandrov, Dannie:
– We needed to install a VPN channel between offices in different countries, the connection speed was 15 Mbit, and it was impossible to work together. We had to download information in the morning and unload it in the evening, as a result of which the pace of development slowed down. But we built new processes, learned to debug not only software but also hardware between China, Turkey and Moscow.
According to Ivan Larionov, it is important that
Today, contract developers in the Russian Federation work mainly for the domestic Russian consumer – there are about 66% of such projects
According to his data, on average, one company has 14 active projects per year.
COMPLETELY RUSSIAN
The country has created wonderful conditions for Russian developers, said Maxim Koposov, director of Promobit. He explained that digitalization creates markets, regulation protects them, the state “grows” companies and maintains demand for products.
Maxim Koposov, Promobit:
– All this together lowers the threshold for entry into the expensive hardware industry . It becomes easier to compete with large vendors.
He said that all of the company’s products – data storage systems, servers, workstations, laptops – are made on Russian Elbrus and Baikal processors.
But, according to him, some companies are acting differently for now: they find a platform in Taiwan and agree on branding. Then they bring the devices to Russia in a disassembled state, screw on the covers, imitating a domestic manufacturer.
The expert emphasized that it is more profitable to create a chain of cooperation and develop design documentation for the partners’ technologies.
Maxim Koposov, Promobit:
– There is no need to constantly depend on a foreign manufacturer, which can stop producing a case or platform at any time. Since the 10 thousand devices planned by the Russian developer for a large Asian OEM supplier ( original equipment manufacturer) is a small print run, not a series.
